29-year-old Albert Berisha has been confirmed his three-year sentence by the Court of Appeals for a brief trip to Syria, where he says he has gone to assist the Syrian people from the Assad regime.
Berisha, who has bewitched in International Relations, has been trying to prove that he has never joined terrorist groups, nor has he ever had such goals. It also established the non-governmental organisation “INSTID”, with the aim of fighting extremism in Kosovo and declining citizens who have ended up under the influence of radical extremist ideas, writes Periscopi.
After confirmation by Apeli, disappointed with justice bodies, Berisha has written a letter on the sentence.
The following is the letter published in full and without editorial interference:
Better in prison unjustly than blood
For the third time, Kosovo's judicial system is being unfair to me by convicting me of terrorism. Three and a half years in prison with the claim that I have joined terrorist organisations; the same ones I refused to participate in despite the dangers. This sentence occurred because I wanted to be part of the Syrian people in the uprising against the greatest criminal of this century, the Assad butcher.
On those who have done wrong to me I will speak again and in detail.
Ever since I received an accusation, these three years have been difficult for me. I've received very little support from the jammat and no support from the firehouses, so I haven't expected much on this difficult day. But what surprised me and disappointed me was the joy of my condemnation by the Jeremiahs.
I am not speaking of my true Muslim brothers, but of those who try to turn others into their favor. Those who look forward to using my case and the suffering of other prisoners for the purposes of recruiting to extremist ideology.
I am writing these lines to address this very category as evidence for other Muslims and the general public so that my case is not used as an instrument to spread ideologies of terror and hatred among people.
You who have a means of benefit to Islam and the suffering of Muslims are a sign of recruit. You say that “is doing well to those who have returned to abandon the jihad and our hygiene”.
Know that any punishment is better than life in a madhouse raised on the fear and blood of innocent people.
We returned because we abandoned your crime, your terror, your cruelty, your brother murder. We returned because we condemned your doctrine. That which ye deny by day, and whisper in the night.
It is you who say how the states of war oppress and imprison Muslims. But you rejoice in their persecution. Better are a few years behind bars than a lifetime with a broken conscience. Every prison is better than two hands washed with the blood of a child.
Better offended by you than part of your crimes. And much better in prison temporarily than killed by you behind your back.
You threatened that if they returned they would become traitors and be sentenced to prison forever. But what you offer is a life under bombs and terror, with crime and intrigue. And all he can find is they come back or come back, they're a couple of years in prison, and they're a normal life back home.
We will proudly hold the prison. And you and those who urged you, they taught you, they changed you, they changed you, you're gonna live in your shame. Until the Day of Judgment.
Below are Klan Kosova's interview with Albert Berisha, who had detailed his experience in Syria and facing justice organs.
