Pacolli meets with Vatican Secretary, urges Kosovo recognition

Today, at the Holy See in the Vatican, Kosovo Chief of Diplomat Pacolli met with Secretary of State Paul Richard Gallagher. The main theme of the conversation was developments in Kosovo, strengthening relations between Kosovo and the Holy See. Today, at the Holy See in the Vatican, Kosovo Chief of Diplomat Pacolli met with Secretary of State Paul Richard Gallagher. The main theme of the conversation was developments in Kosovo, strengthening relations between Kosovo and the Holy See.

As reported in the communiqué, at the beginning of Pacolli's conversation, he introduced the conversation to a balance of internal progress and the affirmation of Kosovo's citizenship, now recognised by 115 states.

Kosovo today on its 10th anniversary has a model constitutional framework for interethnic relations, which have recognised tremendous improvement. Religious co-existence is also an example for the” region, Kosovo Foreign Minister told his co-director, Cardinal Gallagher.

Following the meeting, Minister Pacolli called for boosting contacts between Kosovo and Vatican, increasing the level of representation and recognition of Kosovo's new state as a contribution to peace and stability in the region.

For his part, Cardinal Gallagher, a good connoisseur of developments in the region and Kosovo, said that “you know the goodness that the Holy Father, Pope Franzescu, and the Holy See towards the people of Kosovo. We know your people's aspirations and appreciate them. We know that your country's Catholic community wants to increase the level of organization in diocese and we'll take prudent steps. We are not conditioned by anyone, but we just want to be understood by all actors in the region, for every step we take”, State Secretary Gallagher said.

“We are willing to increase co-operation with Kosovo”.

Later, recognising Minister Pacolli with the focus, which Holy Father Pope Franzescu has given to youth for 2018, Cardinal Gallagher requested information from his co-partner on the Kosovo youth situation, in view of employment, social activism, etc.

During the meeting, Minister Pacolli spoke of economic and social development in the country, and efforts to include in employment, in a quality education Kosovo youth -- a youth who wants progress, free movement, an open-minded youth.

Minister Pacolli invited Cardinal Gallagher to a visit to Kosovo under celebrations of the 10th anniversary of Independence.
