LDK places poster on cultural heritage object, reactions come

Officials at the Regional Centre for Cultural Heritage in Prizren, through a media report, have reacted to the deployment of a poster at the Kino Lumbardhi building, a protection of cultural heritage.

The communiqué reportedly has been informed of the deployment of an electoral poster of an advisory candidate at the Prizren Municipal Assembly, by the media and social networks for such an act.

“QRTK in Prizren, informs the public and other parties that such an uninvented act is contrary to the Law on Cultural Heritage, respectively, with Article 6.10, where it is expressed: The architectural heritage under protection is clearly marked with a visible sign. The establishment of advertising materials on architectural monuments, assembly buildings, or within conservative architectural spaces is done with permission written by the competent body”, the announcement says.

The QRTK calls on political parties in Prizren to make sure the election campaign is held in sets of laws in force, and we seek to refrain from using cultural heritage assets for election purposes.

At the same time, we ask his candidate or party to quickly remove this poster. On the contrary, we, like QRTK, will take all legal action to do such a thing”, the announcement says.

On QRTK's front wall, the poster candidate has placed LDK for assisting, Xhavit Ukaj. In past elections, poster had named Enver Hoxhaj of PDK.

Hayrllah Ceku has reacted to the move.

“Party poster in Kino Lumbardi, protected cultural heritage assets. This time with physical damage to the monument (pains embedded in the wall of the monument). According to the Kosovo Criminal Code, the damage to the protected monument represents criminal acts. The move also features violations of election campaign rules. Therefore, I invite the Regional Centre for Cultural Heritage in Prizren (Samir Hoxha) and the Council for Cultural Heritage of the Historical Centre (Arbnor Morina) to take action to remove the mail and send the responsible to the justice bodies. At the same time, I urge activists of the Kosovo Democratic Institute (Ismet Kryeziu) to help us present this case to the Electoral Panel for Anxiety and Parashta”, Ceku's Facebook response said.
