Lezha girl's story
I was born in Lezha, a very poor family. My father worked with the van and died in an accident when I was only ten years old. I was a single child. Unemployed mother. As my mother told me, they found a man 18 years older than he did in Italy. And he takes us both there.
Fear began for me. Abuse of me began when I was 11 years old. He started letting friends get into bed with me. As a child, my stepfather stayed in the room with us.
He often went to bed with me, kissed me in the forehead, and told me that I had done a good job and that he was proud of me. I didn't understand if he was protecting me from the men who bothered me by touching my hair and body? But later when I grew up, I realized that he was exploiting me.
Then she forced me to accept gifts and spend time with some older men. The meetings start with “Talks” and then progress to trafficking.
My abuse continued until I turned 18. My mother? She did not dare to say a word that she would otherwise return to Lezha's poverty. He would face the opinion that killed him so much. When I was 18, I met an American boy and told him everything. I found strength and denounced my stepfather. He only spent two years in prison and left. You still live with my mother, and I moved to another country and I'm trying to open my own restaurant. I want to forget that terrible time. So I say everything must be denounced in the first place, no matter how strong the threat is.
