Three cemeteries dating back over 2,000 years have been discovered in southern Egypt”, the Ministry of Ancientity announced in this country. The discovery was made in al-Kamin al-Sarwain in the Minya province. Graveyards were hidden deep in a pit after their ceremonies were performed. Four sarcophagus, used to cover people's faces, were found after being very cautiously removed from one of the cemetery. Just a few yards away, another six - body cemetery has been discovered, including a child.

These graveyards are part of an area where the deceased graves were placed for a large city. It is not a military garrison at all, as some” point out, says archaeologist Ali al-Bakry, who adds that due to the analyses already conducted, the bones have recorded the fact that it is a man, woman, and child of various ages.

This is the first time that authorities think the area has been used for a very long time. The cemetery fragments date back to the 27th dynasty in 525 BC and the Greco-Roman period about 332 years before Christ.

Al-Kamin al-Sararahi has been subject to archaeological discoveries since 2015. Since then, over 20 tombs have been discovered in a very old tomb area. Dr Ayman Asmawz, chief of the Egyptian antiquity sector at the Ministry of antiquity, underscores that, “the new discovery is very interesting and that there is still much work to be done to reveal the secrets of the” area.
