Albanians work 3 weeks more annually than Europeans

An Albanian salary worker worked on average, 42.9 hours a week, in 2016, about 2.6 hours more than the average working hours of the 28 EU member states. In one year, an Albanian works an average of 3 weeks and two days more than one European.

The latest data of INSTAT showed that in 2016 Albanian workers have extended their working time (from 42.4 hours to 42.9 hours), unlike Europeans who have reduced their work hours.

The data is released after comparing a recent European Union report on the work market in Be and information published by INSTAT.

In the European Union

In the EU, full-time employees in England report the longest weekly working hours in 2016, with 42.3 hours, 0.1 hours less than 2014 and 2015. They are attended by employees in Cyprus with 41.7 hours, Austria with 41.4 hours, Greece 41.2 hours, Poland and Portugal 41.1 hours. Employees in Denmark report fewer hours of work in a week, only 37.8 hours. These four and a half hours less than the English are equal to more than five weeks a year.

Developments on the European labour market for 2015-2016 have registered that average working hours in a week in 28 EU member states are 40.3 hours. Lithuania reports fewer hours of work in a week.

In the 28 EU member states, the typical weekly hours in one week are about 40.3, just as in 2015, while having suffered a drop of just 6 minutes compared to 2014.

Annual Permissions

Albania, like Spain and Portugal, pays 22 days of annual work permits.

The majority of European Union countries, 20 out of 28, have only 20 days' permits paid by their employer, while Luxembourg, France, Austria and Denmark pay 25 days' annual permits. /Monitor
