For nearly 140 years, between the XIX and XX centuries, Sofia has been one of the world's well-known scientific and educational centres.

At the time, the tradition of learning Albanian in the Bulgarian capital also begins. As scholar Anton Pancev concluded after analyzing that period, learning Albanian in this city has an old tradition of at least 120 years and almost without interruption, writes today “Koha Ditore”.

According to him, this has happened as a result of the Albanian colony in Sofia and several other Bulgarian cities, and, on the other hand, also because of the work of Bulgarian scientists related to Albanian. He summarized these tests in the memo with the title “Sofia as the development centre of Albania”, through which it teaches to represent scientific and educational achievements in the field of Albanian in Bulgaria, mainly in language and literature.

It is based on research by Bulgarian archives and author work with significant contributions to albanology. The presentation of this statement, Pancev, made Thursday in Pristina, in the context of the 36th edition of the International Centre for Albanian Language, Literature and Culture.

He has said the topic for Sofia as the Albanian development centre has many dimensions and is very broad and the work of Bulgarian scientists in the field of Albanian, translations and the role of the Albanian colony in Bulgaria can be included.
