At least 20 Albanian families living in Houston have been severely damaged by the natural disaster that has affected the largest city of Texas.
Albanian Ambassador to the US Floreta Luli-Faber, via a Facebook post, writes that fortunately by the contacts she has had with the authorities, there are no fatalities in people, but at least 20 Albanian families have lost their homes, cars, and all the wealth they have had from Hurricane Harvey.
This is full status:
Houston today is completely flooded! The danger of the storm has not yet passed. The Albanian community there, though relatively small in number, consists of 500-600 families. Deeply moved as I have attended the update of events, I address all my countrymen, you who are suffering the effects of nature along with the rest of the American population living and working in Houston and its surroundings. From contacts with authorities we have learned that there have been no fatalities among Albanian families so far. I have contacted the directors of the organisation, Arberia Houston, and I have been informed that there are at least 20 Albanian families completely affected by this natural disaster by kidnapping their homes, cars, and all their assets. First, I deeply hope that you all will be left out of danger for life! The city of Houston is still under threat from natural factors, but it is also under emergency for the increasing crime in the city. I encourage you to do what Albanians do best, stay as close and help each other. Do not feel that you are far from home, your relatives or your friends. I assure you our attention is there in Houston! Embassy contacts in Washington 202,223,4942, [email protected] and emergency number 202,758.9526 are open to any information or to contact your family. We'll make everything available that we can.
We're with minds and hearts with you!
Floreta Faber Ambassador of RSH to United States
