Her father, Charles Jacobus Theron, was an alcoholic and violent.
In 1991 Theron's mother killed him for self - defense.
He threatened to kill the whole family.
'Course' said Theron.
When they asked me again and again, I told them my father died in a car accident. I didn't want to be treated like a victim,” she says.
At first, a therapy helped her to recover.
And what really affected me most was a daily life with an alcoholic, where I don't know what happens from the moment to the moment”.
Theron says she's grateful to her mother.

The actress points out that Mother has been a great inspiration to her life.
