CHWB reacts to Vushtrri Castle and exploits it as a restaurant

The Kosovar Cultural Heritage Foundation without Borders as the implementation side of the project preserving the Power Castle (2012-2014), funded by the US Government through the American Embassy in Pristina, is carefully following the latest developments concerning the provision of this important cultural heritage asset to private exploitation. As archaeological sites, [...]
As archaeological sites, the Vushtrri Fortress has great historical value as a symbol of its city and long history. Conservation and adaptation of this location was planned, considering its defence, authenticity and integrity statute. The Vushtrri Fortress has been adapted to a very functional space with the aim of education and interpretation (open archaeological museum) and platform for artistic and cultural events. The new function of Cala enables all people indiscriminately of age, gender, religion or skill, free access and use of local space.
CHWB Kosova, aimed at clarifying the situation after the latest developments, invites the institutions involved to publish all decisions that have preceded giving in the use of the above-mentioned location.
Concretically, we pray to the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports, respectively, the Kosovo Institute for Protection of Monuments, to publicise the project for restoration and all decisions related to the provision of archaeological site Vushtrria. The publication of the project and decisions would enable all interested parties to understand the process of dtdid and based on public interest to assess the reasonableness of these decisions.
Decisions related to heritage monuments should always undergo a transparent and broadly consulted process with all sides. In cases where assets are given to third parties (private workers) with the aim of economic gain, this must certainly be made through open public competition and legal procedures. / KultPlus. com
