Asian artists launch the eighth edition of the Sculpture Symposium in Korca

Artists from Asia have launched the Sculpture Symposium in Korca. The curator of this popular sculptor's activity, Gail Tavanjiu, claims that in the eighth year, it is the Asian edition. But the particular part of this activity in the city of Korca, according to the curator, is that this year for the first time in Albania's history is also being organised by the first Architectural Symposium in Korca. According to him, this activity has made architects and sculptors for a unique artistic product.

This is the eighth edition, held in the city of Korca, and comes in special because it is the Asian edition. A Chinese artist, two Japanese, a Taiwanese, and one from South Korea, has arrived from distant Asia. For the first time in Albania and around the world, since it has never happened so far we have in Korca a symposium of sculpture and architecture. Four architects have been invited, and they will cooperate with sculptors to build some paviliones, which will be placed for the first time in Korca”, let the sculptor and curator Gail Tavanjiu know.

For years, which has been held in the town of Korca, this event has brought various artists, who have been welcomed by their works and by the public. This year's young sculpture and architecture have combined popular artists, coming from various parts of the world, and the symposium has architect Jurtin Hajro and sculptor Genti Tavanxhiu as a curator. The one who has been in the town of Korca for years has received praise. “In the Asian edition, we don't have Albanian sculptors, because they're from remote Asia participants, while with architecture we have an Albanian architect, a Dutch, an Italian architect and a Turk”, follows further confirming the Tavanji curator for Sotnews.

Corca, this symposium has brought the city up to this day about 50 sculptures from artists from different countries in Europe and the world. These sculptures are located in the city park.

The “Sculpture works every year were introduced in Youth Park, which we have placed most of the sculptures that have been performed in other editions. Some of these sculptures are also placed in the center of the city or in other parks, but most of them are on the platform of Youth”, followed by the renowned sculptor Gail Tavandiu.

According to the artist to arrive at this year's edition, there have been no shortage and difficulties. With many sacrifices we have reached the eighth edition of the Sculpture and Architecture Symposium this year. Don't think it's easy, but it's too hard to carry out this symposium. We have to have a number of institutions that interfere with financial resources, because there are high costs and we have very difficult to get to the edition of 8”, claims curator Tavanjiu.

This symposium, which has been held in the town of Korca for years by works of art, has brought little curiosity to citizens who view the works of artists in the park. But according to curator Gail Tavanjiu, hope is to create a museum by the standards of time. “We hope to continue the symposium on a number of works and create a museum, since the number we have so far of sculptures is somewhere at 52. But for a collection in Europe with numbers we have to go to 150. We're still in a third of the stage. I hope that over the years the number will be fulfilled, even though with many sacrifices it will be a museum with container standards in Korca”, it is expressed among others Tavanjiu.

In his personal activity, the sculptor is among the names that have been valued in various countries during this time. The first symposium by uniting architects and sculptors for a unique artistic product will be held until July 22nd.
