Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Enver Hoxhaj, speaking of topics on which political consensus is needed in the future, has also mentioned the Council of Europe, the application he initiated a few days ago at the Government meeting.
Hoxhaj said the consensus is needed not only because of the report of forces that make up the government and the opposition, but also because it requires the common approach of all acts of acts to complete the statehood and move to a new phase of statehood.
With particular emphasis, Hoxhaj spoke of the importance of applying for membership to the Council of Europe at this very time. Among other things, he cited the chairmanship of the Council of Ministers, which in these two years will be held by four friendly Kosovo states, then the fact that Kosovo is recognised by the overwhelming majority of Council of Europe member states.
Even the Constitution of Kosovo is in line with the rules of this organisation.
Hoxhaj stressed the importance of Kosovo's membership in the European Council for Citizens, thus stressing access to the Court for Human Rights in Strasbourg, as well as membership in the Bologna Process.
On the other hand, Hoxhaj has talked about other topics, which he has said should be consensus and are of great importance to the country.
“We discussed the necessity of reaching national consensus about demarcation, in the function of visa liberalisation, the establishment of the army in Kosovo, application for candidate status in the European Union, and completing dialogue with Serbia in order to achieve mutual recognition and UN membership. For all these topics, not only is political consensus needed because of the report of forces that make up the government and the opposition, but also because common approach of all the acts is needed to close Kosovo's statehood and move to a new phase of citizenship”, Hoxhaj said.
These comments Hoxhaj made during his speech to the Leonora Kryeziu panel, Dastid Pallaska, Ilir Deda, Arber Vlachi, Vjosa Osmanin, Glauk Konjufca and Jyljet Mushkolajn, organised by the Institute for Political Studies in Pristina.
