If the words of the new European Parliament rapporteur for Kosovo, Igor Soltes, the European Union, can be tried, it appears, will be removed from status neutrality regarding relations between Serbia and Kosovo.

Soltes, who is grandson of Edward Cardel, came to this position instead of Ulrike Lunacek. In his first interview, he predicted that his first task is to convince five EU nations that have not recognised Kosovo to do so, writes properly Sputnik.

The EU, which is the main mediator in the Belgrade-Pristina talks, has said from the start that the topic of dialogue will be the status of Kosovo. The EU has also stressed that in no way will there be pressure on the Union's five member states to recognise Kosovo, news broadcast.net.

After Solette's messages, do you ask if changes in this matter will take place?

Aleksandar Pavic, a political expert, has said Soltes' statements were surreal and unreasonable.

“S first he is just a rapporteur The EP and as such cannot influence the state policy from which it comes (Slovenia) leaves it in EU politics anymore. On the other hand, it is ridiculous to think that a state representative like Slovenia could convince countries like Spain, Greece, Romania and Slovakia to change their state decision. I don't think Solte knows where he came from, what his powers are and overestimate his capacity and weight”, Pavic said.

Pavic has added that since Soltes is Edward Kardel's grandson, he thinks he should continue the family tradition of Serbia's further fragment.

He passed many red lines, even though he just got into this position. Among other things, he has already issued a unilateral status declaration and has not addressed the continuation of Brussels' negotiations. Brussels still has no power to describe the sovereign states their internal policy”, the analyst has indicated.

While politician Stefan Surliq sees Soltes' statement as an attempt to gain Pristina's sympathy and facilitate discontent in Albanian circles following Suriname's decision to withdraw Kosovo's recognition.

“I think the EU is not interested in making additional pressure on member states that have not recognised Kosovo, but this is obviously a long-term problem for Brussels because as long as non-recognition exists, Kosovo cannot hope for its European path”.

The paper's writing concludes by saying that the fact that Slovenian is responsible for Kosovo has been well received in Pristina, as Slovenia has been the first of the former Yugoslav republics to have recognised Kosovo's independence.
