Special Court Tensions situation, frightens PDK deputies

Kosovo Special Court President Ekaterina Trendafilova's statement that the first war crimes charges will be established soon, has intimidated Democratic Party (PDK) deputies in the Kosovo Assembly. On Thursday during the first session held after a long pause due to holding local elections, the deputy PDK, Memli Krasniqi, had charged the international mission of rule of law, E ULEX, for discriminating and prejudiced approaches by EULEX officials to former Kosovo Liberation Army soldiers who have been tried in various processes by prosecutors and judges from this mission.

After his speech the MPs of this party had launched the hall, where sessions to continue Friday (day) have failed. But it has again failed, where following the arrest of three deputies of the movement “Movement” a large part of the MPs have not been in the hall, where even the session has failed again.

Representatives of opposition and civil society say the PDK's recent charges against EULEX are coming from fears that MPs from this party are being held by the Special Court.

Rexhep Selimi, deputy of movement “Vetevendosje”, has said such a move The PDK, launching the hall in protest against EULEX, is meaningless and is “pure hypocrisy”.

Whatever happened yesterday, when The PDK released the Assembly Hall in response to EULEX, it was meaningless, and on the other hand it was also hypocrisy, because it let down the hall as an MP who voted against the Special Court. U n The CK for me is pure hypocrisy, to release the party hall which has continued the EULEX mission is also hypocrisy, so it is not a principle issue”, Selimi said.

According to him, if The PDK wants to reject EULEX, it should do so in Parliament, not outside...

Hadzi Abdel, deputy of the Democratic League of Kosovo in the Kosovo Assembly, has said that this very tension created is convening the party in position, The PDK and the reason for this may also be the Special Court, but its main goal is for the internationals to appear as crisis solvers.

“The stress of the situation is proving to the PDK, the reason it can be for the Special Court and the current blockage of the Parliament that they're starting with, because tensioning the situation is proving to them so that they can also come up with crisis makers, but also crisis resolutions, and to be presented to internationals as people who stabilise the situation in Kosovo, reasons they know, but these blocks of the Kuve, such as yesterday and today's, because they have, but most of that's a bad signal to Kosovo, Abdel. According to him, Kosovo's political agenda has become personal and group agenda, and this should be halted as soon as possible.

Analyst Imer Mushkolaj says PDK's actions will become even more aggressive towards EULEX with the approach of the Special Court. The closer the release of charges by this court, the PDK's actions and approach will become more aggressive, because the target is expected to be top officials. The PDK reacts to EULEX only when it does not, and this is selective approach, it is an emotional response that few people believe”, Mushkolaj said.

On the other hand, Arben Rugova, analyst, considers such an act of The PDK towards EULEX is not party war, but rather is Pristina's message to Brussels to change its approach to Kosovo. But according to Rugova, despite the goal of this “rebellion”, as it calls this action unnecessary, “I don't believe it's a party war against EULEX.

I also don't believe the boycott of the Kosovo Assembly session has to do with the approaching establishment of charges by the Special Court for several former members of the former Kosovo Liberation Army for allegedly committing crimes during the recent war in Kosovo.

This boycott resembles me as an official Pristina message to official Brussels, to change its approach to Kosovo and prevent the use of dual reports in the face of developments in the Balkans, in particular in the Kosovo dialogue Serbia”, Rugova said.
