Not only do they implement EU competition rules but they also receive considerable funding for financing infrastructure projects from the bloc, writes portal “Politio”.
In a text on summit 16 + 16, which is being held today in Budapest, the Brussels portal says that under the Chinese programme “A belt, a way of injecting funds into infrastructure, logistics and transport so that Chinese products can enter the European market”, reports “Vestinet”, Periscopi broadcast.
For years, China has promoted major investments through the initiative é16 +1) to increase its influence in Central and Eastern European countries, but its efforts have recently begun as a powerful bell in Brussels, especially because of Beijing activities in the Balkans”, writes “Polittico”.
Professor Tamas MaturaI, a professor at Budapest University, says China is most successful in projects in the Western Balkans in Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, where EU funds are not available and EU regulations are not applicable.
The leaders of the Western Balkan countries, he adds, “warmly welcomed China's” economic initiatives.
Serbia, which has the biggest benefits of Chinese investments in the region, has bought factories and provided road funds, bridges, energy projects and railways.
China's key project in this region is to build a major Belgrade-Budapest railway, and works in the Serbian section should begin this week.
Modernising the railway line, as it has been added, enables Chinese goods -- coming from Greek ports -- to enter Serbia soon./Periscopi/
