Alien insects may have flown across the universe and over our planet, scientists say. These insects from our planet may have made the same journey, flying outside the Earth and other planets elsewhere in the galaxy.
The theory may even help explain how life began here, suggesting that it be carried from elsewhere to space, then flourished on Earth.
This is according to British scientists who have studied powerful flows of interplanetary dust that can travel through space up to 70km per second, reports The Independent”, Periscope broadcast.
They estimate that tiny bio particles flying up into the atmosphere at a height of 150 miles or more can be eliminated by earth's gravity by space dust.
Eventually, small organisms can reach other planets in the solar system.
Some bacteria, plants, and even hard animals, called tardigrads, are known to survive in space.
The same process can occur otherwise by bringing alien insects to Earth and perhaps helping plant seed on the planet, scientists believe.
The head of the study, Professor Arjun Berara, of the University of Edinburgh, the School of Physics and Astronomies, said: “Proposy that spatial dust shocks can spur large distances between planets, raises some exciting prospects of how the life and atmosphere of the planet for their origin”.
“The leak of rapid space dust is found in all planetary systems and may be a common factor in the spread of life”, he added. /Periscopi/
