Ahmeti says that since 2014 they had faced something like this, where the municipality had earmarked 500 thousand euros for the mosque's renovation, while another 80 thousand were required. According to him, there was no report, and the situation was even near.
Ahmeti considers it unacceptable that 500 thousand have been taken, the mosque has not been carried out, there has been no document, and in the end it has been pronounced only 66,000 euros in fines.
Yesterday, the court has pronounced the 3600-euro fine sentence for former Kosovo Institute for Protection of Monuments (IKMM), Agim Grgurin and the head of the architecture sector at the institute, Gani Gashi.
Here's the full reaction:
In 2014 we have encountered a major irregularities in the renovation of the Karshi Mosque. The municipality had transferred 500 thousand euros to the Institute for Protection of Cultural Heritage for mosque renovation. They were looking for another 80 grand.
There was no report of the 500 thousand euros spent, no report for the tender, while the mosque situation did not indicate it was near. So since then I asked for an investigation and audit because it wasn't a little money. I didn't even know who was the head of the Institute and who did it.
Yesterday I realized that the Court has filed abuse of office and sentenced two people to six months in prison, and then it has turned that sentence into a 3600-euro fine.
500 thousand euros, unreserved mosque, no documents, no reports and finally 3600 euros in fines.
