I am not proud and not ashamed of my past. I had to make strong choices to gain ground in journalism a competitive industry, which often seems like the majority of Britain, is led by people belonging to a rich layer, reports the Guardian”, the Periscope broadcast.
So, I fully agree with Alan Milburn, chairman of the Social Mobile Commission, when she says: “The unpaid practices are a modern scandal that has to end”. According to new research, the public agrees with it: 72% of the public supported a change in the law, with 42% holding “firmly backed” a ban.
Today I work in an independent newspaper. But I grew up earlier as poor. My father was an unemployed man, my mother was a servant girl before she recovered from a job decorating boots. My grandfather worked under the pit. So it can be done! Right? OK, let me show you how I did it.
When I first moved to London, I was in a year of unpaid magazine practices. Because I was committed and insolent, I slowly managed to get money out of the people I was working for.
Just before applying this practice for money sexual favours I've been financially supported by my boyfriend at the time, a good middle class guy with a good salary. But without sex, with my boyfriend in those early days, there would be no rent, no food, no unpaid and no career.
What is clear is that the class gap should be taken seriously. In Great Britain it is wrong that poor children like me should be forced to sell their bodies for money to catch up with new developments with rich contemporaries./Periscopi/
