In order to preserve local producers, yesterday Trade and Industry Minister Bajram Hasani has made the decision to establish a fee for exporting Serbian flour to Kosovo.
This decision had come after several producers had found Serbia's flour imported to Kosovo at low prices.
This has prompted Serbian Trade Minister Rasim Lajjic's reaction.
He has called on the ministry in Kosovo to lift this fee, as it is a classic barrier preventing the export of goods from Serbia to Kosovo, broadcasts news.net.
This is the classic barrier preventing the export of flour from Serbia. There are no different prices for the region, the only change in flour are transportation expenses, so it is logical that flour is cheaper in Pristina than in Tirana”, he said.
Lajic has threatened to call an emergency meeting of the CEFTA Committee if such a move does not go away.
“If these measures are not removed, we will request an urgent meeting of the CEFTA committee, and will contact the competent organs of the European Commission”, Minister Lajjic concluded.
By means of a letter yesterday, MTI Minister Bajram Hasani had asked Kosovo Customs to take all measures to apply the charge of 0.04 cents to export flour from Serbia.
