Russia has accused the United States of refusing to enter Russian military officials, who planned to hold a Russo-Chinese meeting in the United Nations, where the US missile defence systems would be criticised.
Aleksandar Emelyanov, from Russia's Defence Ministry's Committee for International Co-operation, said yesterday that Moscow wanted to send the delegation led by General Tretyak Andrey, senior chief in the Russian Army's post office.
“They were not given access visas”, Emelyanov told some diplomats attending a semi-hour meeting at UN headquarters in New York.
The US mission to the United Nations has refused to comment on this meeting or on individual visa cases.
US Ambassador for Disarmament Robert Wood, and US State Department official Jeffrey Eberhardt left the meeting a few minutes after he started. / REL/
