That is because Prizren is known as a city of tradition and culture.

MKRS Minister Kujtim Gashi has said that in order to advance and promote greater institutional support to historical, cultural and social values, it has been demanded by the government that the MKRS move to the city of Prizren.

“It is an inevitable fact that values stemming from cultural, historical, linguistic and religious diversity make Prizren a point of reference and atraction for local and foreign tourists. Therefore, with the aim of advancing, supporting and caring more institutional to these historical, cultural and social values, we have asked the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to decide on the carrying of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports to Prizren”, Minister Gashi has said on the matter.

Indexline has contacted Kosovo director Burbuke Berisha to see whether artists are satisfied with this proposal.

Berisha expressed satisfaction with the proposal, since at first even the theatre has been in Prizren. According to her, Prizren is more beautiful, more artistic and has preserved tradition more than Pristina.

“We are returning to those first Kosovo formation stories, when they thought Prizren should be the centre of Kosovo. At first, in 1947, even the theatre was there, and the first radio was in Prizren, and there is no bad treatment. Pristina and Prizren are very close. Bad that perhaps all relevant cultural institutions are in Pristina, but Prizren is more artistic, more beautiful, has preserved tradition more than Pristina”, Berisha said.

Director Berisha stressed that the problem for artists will be documentation, as they must travel to Prizren for everything.

The director has sharply criticised the former ministry because it has been dysfunctional and has done nothing for artists.

The past “ministry has been as if it were in Belgrade as much as in Pristina has been dysfunctional for the play of artists. If this is going to be functional wherever it is, it's going to be fine”, director Berisha added away.
