Two MiG-29 military aircraft have arrived in Serbia as Russia's donation. Serbian media write that dismantled planes have been transported to Serbia by a Russian aircraft.
The plan is to transport all six planes to Serbia by Friday, October 6th, Periscopi broadcast.
The transport plane was welcomed with a ceremony last night at Batajnica military airport near Belgrade. Serbian Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin, Serbian Army Chief Ljubisa Dickovic, as well as Air Force and Defence Forces Commander Ranko Zivak, have been attending.
The deal for technical-military donations to Serbia has been reached last year between the Russian and Serbian president.
“Today is a big day for our Army and Air Force, because after many years we're taking airplanes, which is very important for the country's defence potential in general”, Dickovic was quoted as saying.
Even some citizens have joined the ceremony at the military airport, Vecernje Novosti has reported.
It is also known that a number of Russian technicians have arrived with aircraft.
The new MiGs are painted before they are dismantled for transportation, they have new symbols of Serbian color treatment. /Periscopi/
