Poet Bahai, Mahvash Sabet, who was imprisoned for about a decade in Iran, has been selected as the International Writer of Courage 2017.
Irish poet Michael Longley has honored the writer with this title at the PEN award ceremony.
Longley is the winner of that prize, yet the poet shared it with Sabet, who had faced persecution.
He felt the “lowering” to share the PEN price with the poet, saying it is the <x2nd> verse writer's heart to sing to the world's beauty”.
