The European Federation of Journalists has reacted to the concern voiced by journalists over the insults of Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama in their direction the day before.
In a statement, the association in question condemns the prime minister's action and encourages journalists to do their job. The EFJ supports the concern of Albanian journalists following the insults and promotions Prime Minister Edi Rama made the day before.
The European Association of Journalists brings to the attention that each journalist has the right to ask questions that politicians may not like, and that is not a reason for intimulating and attacking them for their investigative work. This repeated behaviour to Albanian journalists should be halted”, the statement said.
The day following the plenary session, where the ruling majority voted, against the request for the removal of parliamentary immunity for the arrest of former Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri, suspected of links to the activity of an Albanian-Italian drug trafficking organisation, the prime minister told reporters during direct broadcast of insulting and offensive words.
“Turp for all of you and those who are like you, who have not yet understood what this is and continue to torture people with these pointless questions. Your questions come out of ignorance, you are so ignorant, sorry. These are miserable questions, you broadcast like copper wires, you don't understand anything. You put me in a stupid position with your questions, how do you know when you don't read”, Rama said.
