A couple have admitted that they stole goods from the electronic goods company “Amazon” worth more than $1.2m, constantly claiming that the goods they ordered had been damaged during their arrival by mail.
Erin Joseph Finan, 38-year-old and Leah Jeanette Finan, 37-year-old, both from Indiana in the United States, have been found guilty of postal fraud and money laundering.
The couple may be fined $500,000, as well as up to 20 years in prison.
The verdict against them will be taken on November 9th.
Supas the local newspaper Muncie Star Press, the couple had used hundreds of fake online identities to order known technology equipment in Amazon, including Samsung, GoPro cameras and Xbox video games.
Then the couple had contacted the Amazon Consumer Services Department to report that the equipment had arrived damaged and that it is not working, and Amazon had sent them free replacement products, the Express broadcast.
Thereafter, the couple would sell their equipment to another individual who would resell them to a company whose name has not been disclosed in New York.
